Cammeray Physiotherapy Centre Joins Physio On Miller

It’s been a great start to the year and we are excited to announce that Cammeray Physiotherapy Centre joins Physio On Miller in March.  After 30 years of servicing the Cammeray community Sandie Rogers has closed Cammeray Physiotherapy Centre and has moved her team and clients to join the team at Physio On Miller.

You may notice some new physio faces – Sandie and Celia, and a busier waiting room adding to the buzz at Physio On Miller.  We will continue to ensure you’re able to book an appointment with your preferred physio and receive the outstanding care you are accustomed.

Christmas Hours

We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  Thanks to all our clients for their support this year and we look forward to a fantastic 2016.

We will be closed from 25th-28th December and open by appointment on Tuesday 29th and Thursday 31st December.  Please leave a message on our voicemail and we will return your call to book an appointment.

We will return to work on Monday 4th January.

Kids Pilates

We are excited to be adding Kids Pilates classes to our schedule at Physio On Miller.  Many clients have benefited from Pilates themselves and enquired into kids pilates so we thought why shouldn’t they enjoy the fun and benefits of Pilates too.

Our Kids Pilates classes incorporate the core Principles of Pilates while providing a fun, challenging and inclusive environment for kids to enjoy together.  These classes aim to:

  • Improve Balance and Co ordination
  • Develop good posture from a young age
  • Improve core strength and flexibility
  • Reduce risk of overuse injuries from sport

If you think your child would love to join our classes please give us a call.

Cammeray Public School Fun Run

We had a great day supporting Cammeray Public School in their annual Fun Run.  Physio On Miller provided the pre and post-race massages  and it was fantastic to see everyone enjoying the 1km and 3km runs, family relay and tug-of-war.  The kids had a great time challenging their core balance on the wobbleboard, mini tramp and Pilates ball.

Thanks for having us and we look forward to next year’s event

Physio for Common Running Injuries

Have you just completed the SMH Half Marathon and looking for your next event?  Or are you inspired to join the 80,000 runners in the City to Surf or the Blackmores Running Festival later in the year?

Unfortunately when training for long distance events aches and pains can creep up on your body and stop you from performing at your best.  The good news is that a there is a lot you can do to prevent them but if they do appear they are treatable.

Running injuries are commonly caused by a sudden increase in training, incorrect footwear, poor biomechanics, weak muscles (quads and gluts) and tight muscles (calves, hamstrings and ITB).

Treatment is important to prevent the injury occurring or getting worse.  It consists of addressing your biomechanics (technique correction), rebalancing your muscles (massaging tight muscles and strengthening the weak ones) and following a gradual increased training program.

Common Running Injuries include:

  • Knee Pain
  • Achilles Tendonopathy
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • ITB syndrome
  • Muscle strains and tears

If you’re keen to get running and don’t want to be limited by injury give us a call 0280656902.
